Now the USB stick boots nicely comes up with the menu but when I select any option, it just reboots the system. I had already a few versions on the stick but this last addition may have fooled me and I did something wrong. On the spur of the moment while I was waiting for some process to finish. Then I was going to use my Live USB for an install of Darkstar but I seem to have made a fatal mistake by deciding to add a copy of latest KDE. What I have done, shrunk the partition 50 GB when running Windows 10. Thanks for explanation, what I am still struggling with, if linux does not care about the file type, why did gparted not allow me to touch the partition, well at least not shrink it? My question is there an easy way to turn zfs into ntfs, so I can shrink /dev/sda, and without loosing any data? I have searched and read a little bit about zfs but very little, one item: I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytesĭevice Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes When I tried gparted to resize before installing, that was when I realised my cosy sunday evening was not to be.Ĭode: guest]# fdisk -l /dev/sdĭisk /dev/sda: 931.5 GiB, 1000204886016 bytes, 1953525168 sectors dev/sda and /dev/sdc are both showing zfs. dev/sda has plenty of room for installing "smaal" KDE5 system, say 50 plus GB my problem is the zfs appearance in below. Missing: Required tool sensors not installed. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what is going on and think I have worked out the Windows side of things. Slow starting, trouble starting, when started very nosy pattern may apear and disapear. The idea was the computer would mainly act as a backup storage, be able to access internet in emergency and then be a dynamic picture display of gigabyte of photo files.Īs i said it worked fine for several weeks, more programs sneaked in and problems started. This time it is a Desktop-Tower install of some age, obtained second hand for a very reasonable price and for good measure came installed with Windows 10, it worked great for about 3 months as intended. I have helped out twice already because I can't resist a challenge when in theory the solution is/should be simple. She is game to step where only angles ought to tread when messing with laptops/desktops. My wife's sister of advanced years does not let technology obstruct her when it comes to using pc's and smartphones.
